Propulsion Test Engineer

Sidereus Space Dynamics is at the forefront of revolutionizing space access through its pioneering reusable single-stage launch vehicles, tailored for responsive deployments of nanosatellites and small payloads. We are seeking a hands-on Assembly, Integration and Test Engineer / Technician to join our Propulsion team. This role is instrumental in ensuring that both our liquid rocket engines and test infrastructure for Propulsion are optimally integrated and validated for test readiness through hands-on work. A significant part of this role involves the hands-on assembly and testing of the Liquid Rocket engines and feedlines, valves and other components of the test bench.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform assembly, integration, testing and flight operations tasks for Liquid Rocket Engine subsystems.
  • Work on varied subsystems of the engine with an open mind to switch between subsystems, to learn quickly and effectively execute engineering tasks. 
  • Interact with engineers and technicians from all disciplines, including system integration, production, test, launch, avionics, GNC (guidance, navigation & control), flight and ground software, mission management, flight reliability, and more  
  • Develop test plans, sequences and analyze test results. 
  • Fully own accountability for critical test and spaceflight hardware – every employee at Sidereus assumes profound responsibility for the hardware they develop.  
  • Exercise risk-conscious decision-making skills under pressure


  • Experience in Test Engineering, Test Execution, and Creating Test Cases
  • Experience and knowledge in feedlines, valves and other fluid system components
  • Knowledge in fluid dynamics
  • Experience in fluid dynamic hardware assembly, integration and testing
  • Knowledge of Testing and Functional Testing
  • Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with propulsion systems is preferred
  • Experience with data collection and analysis
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Preferred Skills & Experiences:

  • Experience developing hardware from concept to working prototypes 
  • Demonstrable proficiency in the basic principles of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, thermochemistry, mechanics, and materials 
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals and the ability to perform basic calculations and analysis 
  • Analytical/scientific programming experience is preferred (Python, Matlab, Excel, etc.) 
  • Liquid rocket engine development experience and/or experience working with pressurized and cryogenic fluid components such as valves and/or pneumatic systems 
  • Demonstrated track record of success in a rapidly growing, changing and highly technical environment – ability to act and execute in an entrepreneurial manner against tight timelines and aggressive schedules 
  • Great attitude in the face of extreme challenges

Additional Requirements:

  • Willing to travel in support of launching and testing of hardware

Salary And Benefits:

For this role, we offer a salary range between €27,000 and €55,000, commensurate with your qualifications and experience. Our benefits package includes:
